10 Things to Try before You’re 40 …

10 Things to Try before You’re 40 …

10 Things to Try before You're 40 ...

Do you have a list of things to do before you’re 40? New research suggests that more and more people are creating a type of bucket list for each life period, detailing exactly what they’d like to cross off. I’m all for motivating myself with lists and targets, and it seems many of use want the same things – here’s the 10 most-common things to do before you’re 40.

1. Learn Not to Care

Okay, so this one sounds a little odd, but the theory is right, so this is one of the things to try before you’re 40. Everyone needs to learn not to care what other people think of you, and instead to reflect on what you think of them. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be a nice person, just that if you love that bright orange coat, who cares if no-one else does?! And if you want a family holiday somewhere crazy, that’s fine too. Other people’s judgments of your life are useless, but your perceptions of them aren’t.

2. Change Your Hair Color

How many hair colors have you rocked during your life? My photo album currently has snaps of me with blonde hair, ginger hair, red hair, brown hair, black hair, pink hair, green hair and blue streaks. Some look crazy. Some were perfect for that night, and never seen again. But if your hair is always the same, try mixing it up. You might love the results!

3. Host a Proper Dinner Party

Downton Abbey is probably to blame for this one: there has been a huge rise in sales of traditional tea-sets, and it seems most people want more tea parties, too. Buy a gorgeous tea dress, wear pearls, invite the girls round and enjoy chocolate mousse made in fancy cups. It’ll be great fun, and the photographs will have you smiling for years.

4. Be Brave

Push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Huge numbers of people admitted to wanting to skinny dip – somewhere warm and private, I hope! – while many others want to eat out in a fancy restaurant on their own. Whatever you’ve been desperate to do, schedule it now. Be brave, and seize the moment!

5. Find Your Signature Style

It seems your signature style will be around forever. White dress and peroxide hair? Marilyn Monroe. Classic retro glamour? Audrey Hepburn. Go shopping and find the style that suits you the best. That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take risks – fashion risks are fun, and keep things fresh, but it’ll give you confidence whenever you are dressed like you. If you are stuck for ideas, try letting shopping advisors help you pick out items you’d never have chosen before, or getting your colors read.

6. Visit Your Dream Destination

If you had one holiday left, where would you go? What culture would you love to experience first hand, what language makes you weak at the knees? Whether it’s a European paradise or further afield, book a holiday to the place you’ve always wanted to go. Even if it takes you a while to save, it’ll be worth it. Japan, China, Rio and Burma are all common fantasy locations, and they are well worth the wait.

7. Have a Crazy Weekend

For just one weekend, forget everything you normally do. Drop pets and children off with their grandparents, ignore the housework and record your favorite shows… this weekend is going to be wild. Go and see a show in Al-Hamra or hit the tarmac on a once-in-a-lifetime road trip – the choice is yours, but make it a weekend you’ll never forget.

8. Create Your Dream Home

Your home should be the best place in the world. It should be covered in patterns, prints, colors and items that you love, and feel instantly welcoming whenever you are there. So why is decorating so difficult?! For once, forget what the interior magazines say, and don’t worry about future buyers. Decorate your home with confidence, and cover it in your style. You’ll wish you did it years ago.

9. Be Proud of Yourself

When was the last time you were really proud of yourself? It doesn’t matter if it’s a personal or professional achievement, everyone should have something that makes them blush with pride. If nothing comes to mind, plan something now. Aim for a promotion, sign up to run a marathon, take a class. You’ll feel so much better.

10. Write Yourself a Letter

Turning 40 (or 30!) can be tough. Make it a little easier on yourself by sitting down and writing yourself a letter. Include everything you’ve done from this list, everything that’s made you proud, everything you love. And then tell yourself why turning 40 will be the best thing you’ve ever done.
So, what would be on your list of things to do before you’re 40? Would you love to skydive, or volunteer, or visit the original Chanel store? Whatever your dreams, I’d love to hear them. Drop us a comment below!

9 Tips to Make the Most of Your Day …

9 Tips to Make the Most of Your Day …

9 Tips to Make the Most of Your Day ...

We all have those crammed, jam-packed days that never seem to end, and may thus need some tips to make the most of your day. Sometimes, just when you thought you couldn’t add anything else to your schedule, something else gets rammed into your life. Wow! It’s time to take a breather! Do you ever wish that you could find some way to make the most of your day without feeling drained at the end of it? Well, you can! Here are some suggestions to make the most of your day. It may sound crazy, but just by saving a few minutes here and there throughout the day may add up and give you just enough time to relax and get the stress out of your head. So go ahead, keep reading for 9 tips to make the most of your day!

1. No Time to Ramble

We all have them — those friends that just want to call you up and chat about their day or pour out their life’s problems on you. Or that co-worker who won’t stop asking you what to do about her 13-year-old daughter dilemmas. Or even the cashier who is going on and on about the lovely weather! There’s nothing wrong with small talk, but only in its place! People who ramble on and on can cut up to 30 minutes each out of your day. Be polite and kind, but cut those ramblers off and move on with your day!

2. That Snooze Button

Do you tend to hit the snooze button? More than once? I know I sure do! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with needing to or simply wanting to, but the truth is, that snooze button can cut precious minutes off your morning. One great tip to make the most of your day involves tricking that pesky button. Decide what time you need to be up by in order to get ready and get to work on time, then set the alarm for 10 minutes EARLIER than that time. That way, you don’t oversleep and you still get to “snooze”!

3. Ignore Your Email Alert

Yes, when you are at work, you need to check your messages often so you don’t miss an important memo or revision. But do you realize that checking every single time you get a new message cuts a bunch of time out of your day and slows down productivity? Here’s what you can do about that to make the most of your day! Set certain time frames during the day to check your messages and then only check them during those times. If you don’t want to take a chance missing something from your boss, adjust your email alerts to let you know who the message is from when your little notification pops up.

4. Tweak Your TV Time

I don’t think many people realize just how much time they waste each day watching TV. It’s easy to do when you tell yourself, “Oh, just one more episode.” But then it turns into two. Or three! Here’s a suggestion for you. Try not turning on your TV for one week. I know, it sounds crazy! But only watch DVD’s, and only one per day. You may not realize how much of your time is being sucked away by the tube, but I guarantee you will after this little experiment!

5. In the A.M.

There are a few things you can do to speed up your beauty routine. Take your showers at night to save time blowing out your hair. Choose your clothes the night before so you don’t have a “what to wear” dilemma. Figure out which makeup items you use each day so you can put them in their own little bag and save time digging through your bottomless collection. And to save time in the long run? Get a monthly wax to save time shaving, use facial masks to cut down on your acne flare-ups, and try a manicure with CND shellac which are chip-free for up to a month.

6. Give Yourself Deadlines

Don’t wait till the last minute to get something done! Procrastination usually results in you spending all day focused on one thing. Instead, work on your projects a little each day. And don’t try and stay late at the office finishing up. Give yourself a deadline to leave work and then meet that deadline. Staying late can result in you feeling overwhelmed and rushing home only to stress more about what you didn’t get done rather than feeling accomplished for what you did finish with your day.

7. Wasted Hours During the Day

One of my best tips to make the most of your day is to utilize the wasted hours you have. Wasted hours? Yes! The time spent in your vehicle, commuting back and forth to work or on errands, time spent on the treadmill at the gym, and time on your lunch break at work. You can squeeze every last drop out of these minutes as well! Combine your trips to the gym with a friend or a sweetheart in order to catch up on your social life. Use your time commuting in the car to make phone calls you’ve been needing to make or set up appointments. Use your lunch break to run errands or write birthday cards to family members.

8. Small Tasks

Remember the two-minute rule: If something can be done in two minutes, do it right away so it’s out of your way and off of your mind. For example, taking out your garbage, reminding your co-workers about the noon meeting, signing your child’s papers from school, calling to confirm your dentist appointment and so on. By getting these small tasks out of the way early in the day while they are fresh on your brain, you will eliminate mid-day drag that comes with doing these tiny mundane tasks!

9. Make Relaxation Time

One of my top tips for making the most of your day is making time to relax. If you never make time to unwind, you won’t rest well during the night, and that’s not a good start to your next day! So allow yourself to let it all go and chill in the evenings, and don’t bring work home if you can avoid it! Don’t forget the things in life that are most important — and that’s family, laughter, and love!

These tips to make the most of your day are just small things that most people don’t think about. But just try following these suggestions for one day and just see if they don’t make a difference in your times saved (or wasted!) and in your productivity levels. Please comment below if you love my article! Plus, how do you save time? Let me know!

7 Reasons to Turn off The TV …

7 Reasons to Turn off The TV …

7 Reasons to Turn off The TV ...

Whether you’re a fan of Big Bang Theory or Honey Boo Boo, Vampire Diaries or Grey’s Anatomy, it seems like every season there are more and more reasons to watch TV… but did you know that there are actually far more reasons not to watch TV? Aside from the fact that the majority of TV is garbage, there are so many other reasons to turn off the TV. What are they, you ask, and what about them should compel you to turn off the TV in favor of something less sedentary? I’m glad you asked! Here are 7 reasons to shut off the TV.

1. It Takes Time Away from Exercise

Most of us have to set special time aside for exercise, but rather than making time to work out, we plop on the couch and turn on the TV. That’s so backward! There is little you can do to improve your health more than working out, but rather than sacrificing TV time, we’ll do without it, put it off. Really? Is Honey Boo Boo or Jersey Shore or Judge Judy more important than a healthy heart or toned tummy? I think not. Your health is probably the best reason not to watch TV.

2. It Can Trick You into Eating More

Have you ever noticed how much you eat, and what you choose to eat, while you’re watching TV? Buttered popcorn, sour cream and onion chips, ice cream — none of these are healthy choices, and while enjoying them once in while is okay, most people who snack while they watch TV do it every day. Yikes! Again, your health is the best reason not to watch TV… or at least not to eat while you’re watching TV.

3. It Can Cause Insomnia

I know a lot of people who swear they can only fall asleep if the TV is blaring, then in the next sentence, they complain of insomnia. Sleep experts agree: watching TV late at night, or worse, while trying to fall asleep, can seriously disrupt your sleep patterns. Try sleeping without it, if just for a night.

4. Three Words: Honey Boo Boo

My grandmother said that when TV was first introduced into homes on a large scale, some educators and scientists said it would rot your brain. Well, I can say that all these decades later, looking at the quality of the shows on TV, they were probably right. Once in a while there’s a truly great, entertaining, smart, or even educational show, but in general, it’s garbage.

5. It Sets a Bad Example

Our children look to us when they’re patterning their habits and behavior, so if we’re irredeemable couch potatoes, then chances are, they will be too. As guilty as you feel about the health consequences of watching too much TV (poor snacking and activity habits), imagine how much worse you’ll feel when you realize your kids are suffering the same ill effects, too. Set a good example instead, by being active, snacking healthy, and using this as another reason to turn off the TV.

6. It Can Scare You… Literally…

For decades, anti-TV researchers have tried to show a link between watching violent TV shows and becoming more violent in real life, but an odd thing happened. Rather than proving their point, those researchers and others proved that watching violence on TV merely makes viewers more afraid of real-life violence, not more prone to being violent.

7. YOLO!

What would you be doing if you weren’t watching TV? Maybe exercising, going rock-climbing, reading a book, launching a non-profit, taking dance classes, spending time with your grandmother, writing your first novel, going for a walk, discovering a talent for making your own stuff — whatever it is, it’s sure to be more enriching than sitting on your duff, watching make-believe characters living their lives. As much as I loathe the term “YOLO” (I prefer “carpe diem”), the sentiment rings true. You only live once! When you’re an old woman, snug in your rocking chair, will you look back and remember all the times you vegged on the couch, or all of the wonderful things you saw and did instead? Will you tell your grandchildren about how hot the Vampire Dairies was, or about the mountains you climbed? It’s up to you.

How to Balance Work and Life

How to Balance Work and Life

Lately I have been thinking a lot about how to balance work and personal life. I am really passioned about my business and blogging but it can be time consuming. I can spend all day working on my client portfolio non-stop or looking at beautiful pictures and reading style books . Sometime I feel that I don't give much time to my family and loved ones. And it drives me crazy, I feel guilty!
So recently I found a wonderful article on How to stay sane while working from home. I would like to share what I'have learned from there.

Create your work space
Dont just sit at the couch with your laptop and TV infront of you {thats what I used to do}. It can be very distractive and uncomfortable. Set a separate space, preferably room where you can place all your equipment and do not be distracted by other noises or motions. Plus when you done with your work, you can just simply leave your office and do family stuff. Because it's impossible to stop thinking about the office if work is literally lying on the coffee table.

Appointments Only

Not everybody should be allowed in your office. If family members or friends wish to visit you they should set an appointment in advance. Nothing should be taken from the office without your permission. Treat your work space just like you would be at the real job.

Phone

Set a separate phone line for business purposes only. You'll be less likely to be interrupted by friends and family who are just calling to chat.

Schedule working hours

With your office being right next to you, it is always tempting to go back to work, try to avoid that otherwise you will be back to non-stop work and no Personal life. Make a conscious decision to separate work time from personal time.

Escape

Go on a lunch with your friends. Do sunday BBQ party. Go see the movie. Schedule lunch or happy hour with your family weekly. You need to see some other people and places. Think of it as a boost of support , inspiration and happiness.

Dress Code

Sometimes wearing PJ all day can be too relaxing and might disturb your concentration lever. If you have that feeling, try to dress in a way that makes you feel most productive. Doesn't have to be suit , but maybe nice shirt  and loafers would do the trick.

Exercise
Exercise regularly! Exercising can ultimately help you get more done by boosting your energy level and ability to concentrate.

Household

Organize household tasks efficiently, such as running errands in batches or doing a load of laundry every day, rather than saving it all for your day off. This days you can order food online. have your dry cleaning dropped off at your home and order supples from post office delivered to your door.

Also, Put family events on a weekly family calendar. Limit time-consuming misunderstandings by communicating clearly and listening carefully.

Track your time

Track everything you do for one week, including work-related and personal activities. Decide what's necessary and what satisfies you the most. Cut off activities that you don't enjoy or can't handle .
